Description
As a Critical Care Technician at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC), you will play a crucial role in the Operating Theatre (OT) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in patient movement, managing medical equipment, and supporting the Anesthesia and Surgical teams. This position requires working rotating shifts covering 24-hour periods.

- Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English; CSEC Integrated Science or equivalent preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - Critical Care Technician:
- Assist in safe and comfortable patient transfers to and from the ICU.
- Set up and maintain medical equipment for procedures, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the ICU, including biohazardous waste disposal.
- Clean and maintain mechanical ventilators, oxygen therapy equipment, and suction containers.
- Monitor equipment functionality and report any malfunctions promptly.
- Respond to emergency situations in the ICU and assist healthcare professionals as required.
- Stay updated with current practices and participate in relevant training programs.
- The collection and distribution of distilled water.
Operating Theatre - Critical Care Technician:
- Assist in safe patient transfers to and from the Operating Theatre.
- Provide support during surgical procedures, including equipment setup and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Clean and maintain surgical equipment and supplies.
- Respond to emergency situations in the Operating Theatre and provide Basic Life Support as necessary.
- Stay updated with current practices and participate in relevant training programs.
Additional Duties:
- Lift weights over 40 pounds.
- Complete daily checklists for equipment and supplies.
- Undertake any other related duties as assigned.
